Glasgow welcomed everyone to the celebration and expressed his excitement for being a part of this awards program. He emphasized how valuable CotYs are and how valuable they have been to his company over the years. These award-winning entries inspire ideas, show trends and describe just what can be done when Remodeling is Done Right.

Eggers explained why his team always looks forward to putting together their entries. He noted that companies should be prepared throughout the year to submit a CotY entry in November.  It's so important to consider photography for instance and determine which projects are CotY possibilities. They discussed the collaboration opportunities with suppliers and noted that team entries are available.

Residential Interior Under $100,000

Relocating a master bedroom suite is no easy task. Combining that scope with various challenges faced during planning and production, the transformation of a masterfully built 1930s Tudor, was a truly unique project. Taking home a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Interior Under $100,000 category is Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling.

Residential Interior $100,000 to $250,000

This project was a labor of love as the remodeler worked with the client to revitalize an 1878 two-story home. The home had great bones, but the client desired an overhaul to turn this house into a home.  Bringing home a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Interior $100,000 to $250,000 category is RA Cooks Renovations.

Residential Interior $250,000 to $500,000

In this remodel, the client desired the creation of an upscale, beautiful living space.  The homeowners were at a point in their lives where being empty-nesters was right around the corner and no longer would they have to worry about sticky fingers or clutter. The introduction of the outdoors to the interior of the home was important as well. Taking the 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Interior $250,000 to $500,000 category is Kircher Construction.

Residential Interior Element Under $30,000

A move back to Ohio from a California lifestyle prompted this former Warner Brothers executive to want a space that was edgy and sophisticated. The area off the great room proved to be a fitting space for a beautiful bar complete with the sparkle of the antique mercury mirror, lighted cabinets and lighted bottle display risers.  This interior element earned Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc. a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Interior Element Under $30,000 category.

Residential Exterior $50,000 to $100,000

When this client built their home in 2019, it was all about location and the ability to expand their living space beyond just the walls of the house. They wanted help in utilizing the existing patio in all of the area’s seasons. The result was a new covered pergola that looked as though it had been part of the original house design. With the additional functionality, family time became more and more important.  This unique design earned H. Glasgow Construction a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Exterior $50,000 to $100,0000.

Residential Exterior $100,000 to $200,000

This project showcases how even a narrow backyard can become a perfect outdoor living area.  This home was built as a reproduction 1880s Pennsylvania stone home, actually built 100 years later.  With only 30’ of space between the rear of the house and the lot line, an existing 14’ deep deck was removed, leaving room for a larger custom deck that was partially covered. Making some tough typography work was Greater Dayton Building & Remodeling, earning them a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Exterior $100,000 to $200,000.

Residential Addition Under $100,000

The purpose of this small addition was to increase the size of a homeowner’s laundry room for a family of seven kids while increasing storage and serving as an entry point or a future garage.  This small addition needed to house two washing machines, two dryers, a dog bath and a refrigerator.  Proving to be a challenge was the finding of an old cistern when excavating. Earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Addition Under $100,000 category is Brentwood Builders. Brentwood Builders also received a 2023 NARI National Region 4 Contractor of the Year Award in the Residential Addition Under $100,000 category for this project.

Residential Addition $100,000 to $250,000

Remodelers will tell you that projects are extra special when there is a purpose behind the need.  For this client, an addition meant their family could all be together in one room. Their son has a disability that made this seemingly “normal” purpose impossible. The new addition offers the needed space while a new turf backyard means a safe place to enjoy the outdoors. Earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Addition $100,000 to $250,000 is H. Glasgow Construction.

Residential Addition Over $250,000

This project incorporated several levels of logistical challenges. It was an older home that had been added onto several times. A new septic tank was needed and thankfully all of the digging for the footers wasn’t yet completed.  The house required a new well and an old fireplace was to be kept but the stone chimney’s wood support structure was rotted, resulting in a rebuilt fireplace.  All of this proved easy in comparison as the majority of the new build was behind the original home, where both side yards were very narrow – a logistical challenge for sure. Congratulations to Brentwood Builders for earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Addition Over $250,000 category.

Residential Bath Category Sponsored by Ferguson Bath, Kitchen & Lighting Gallery

Residential Bath Under $25,000

Renovation of the 1990’s builder grade Jack n’ Jill bath came to fruition for some newly retired homeowners who often host their out of town married children and their families. The use of these spaces has changed from when they only had two children sharing the bath. Better light, more efficient storage and good traffic flow were all part of the design. The 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Bath Under $25,000 category goes to Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc.

Residential Bath $25,000 to $50,000

This client was so ready for a change. The home was in desperate need of an owner’s suite as the bath was typical for this production build, most likely cutting edge 30 years ago. The now retired homeowners desired more storage, better lighting and a shower designed with age in mind.  The remodeler was up to the challenge and provided a bath retreat. Earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Bath $25,000 to $50,000 category is Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc.

Residential Bath $50,000 to $75,000

This lovely older home simply needed some updating.  The home, built in 1962, featured a maid’s quarters, complete with back stairway from the bedroom that enters the kitchen.  Now that this bedroom and bathroom function as a master suite, it needed to be redesigned to fit their needs. The client has an elegant style and this area needed to reflect that sophistication.  The team at Remodeling Designs, Inc. earned a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Bath $50,000 to $75,000.

Residential Bath $75,000 to $100,000

These longtime clients of the remodeler put their trust in them once again to tackle the renovation of their outdated and dysfunctional primary bath. The desire was for a spa-like suite with a larger shower and individual vanity space as well as perks like storage.  Their trust was renewed with a primary bath that brings a smile to their faces every time they enter the space. Earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Bath $75,000 to $100,000 is Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc.

Residential Kitchen Category sponsored by Kitchens.Inspired, a division of Big Sandy Superstore

Residential Kitchen $30,000-$60,000

For this project the clients desired a modern kitchen with a pop of color and more storage. The remodelers were able to start with a blank canvas and the ability to rework the electrical and plumbing to support the new kitchen design. The new design was not only more functional but provided a new utility cabinet with coffee bar area and many upgrades. Providing exactly what the client needed. Congratulations to RA Cooks Renovations for receiving a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the category of Residential Kitchen $30,000 to $60,000.

Residential Kitchen $60,000 to $100,000

The homeowners’ intention here was to remove half of the wall in the kitchen and open it to the family room so that the two spaces could be more unified. After going through the design process, the remodeler’s design ideas to enhance the functionality were embraced and brought the homeowner’s vision to the next level. The 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Kitchen $60,000 to $100,000 category goes to Remodeling Designs, Inc.

Residential Kitchen $100,000 to $150,000

A now grounded, previously jet-setting client who returned to their hometown after living abroad, wanted to convert their 1970’s tri-level into a mid-century modern open floor plan. The original galley kitchen offered little work or entertaining space.  The kitchen was re-located to the front of the house along with many challenges. In the end the open floor plan was achieved and the functionality with modern and clean lines was a winning ticket. Presented with the 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Kitchen $100,000 to $150,000 category is Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc.

Residential Kitchen Over $150,000

A long-time dream for a family became reality for this couple. The homeowners wanted to convert a one working barn into a bed and breakfast at their wedding venue. The barn was not originally designed for human habitation or beauty. Wiring, plumbing and the 100-year-old plus support beams added to the adventure. The hurdles and milestones this project made everyone that much more excited upon completion. This project was presented with the 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Residential Kitchen Over $150,000 category and the recipient is Cabinet Creations Design Gallery, Inc.

Entire House Category

Entire House $250,000 to $500,000

This client purchased this classic 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath two story house about 10 years ago, before kids. They now have 4 children and all the activity that comes with them.  So a multi-faceted addition and remodel was needed for them to gain and reclaim the space for ultimate use. The design solution ended up utilizing two different additions and a whole scale first floor remodel to fulfill all of their requests. This included the addition of a great room on to the back of the house in place of an old covered porch along with a master suite addition on the side of the house. In addition all new vinyl siding, new authentic cedar front porch columns, new entry door and a concrete patio customized this now 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, 2 laundry room house. Earning a 2023 NARI of Southwest Ohio CotY in the Entire House $250,000 to $500,000 category is Brentwood Builders.
